Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread Cafe

Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread Cafe - Rebecca Raisin

You are invited to the wedding of the year!

Snow is falling thick and fast outside the Gingerbread Café and inside, its owner Lily is planning the wedding of the year. Her wedding! She never dreamt it would happen, but this Christmas, she’ll be marrying the man of her dreams - in a Christmas-card-perfect ceremony!

The gingerbread is baking, the dress is fitted and the mistletoe’s in place – for once, everything’s going to plan. That is until her mother-in-law arrives... Suddenly, Lily’s famous cool is being tested like never before and her dream wedding is crumbling before her eyes.

In the blink of a fairylight, the Gingerbread Café has been thrown into chaos! Lily thought she had this wedding wrapped up, but with so much to do before she says ‘I do’, can Lily get to the church on time – and make this Christmas sparkle after all?

Ok where to start. Firstly thank you for the Netgalley invitation. I was more than thrilled when this arrived in my inbox.

I can't believe that only this time last year I was reviewing the first book in this series. At that point I had only had my blog a few months and was still getting to grips with blogging and tours and such like. I am thrilled a year later to be reviewing the Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread Cafe.

Lil and Damon  are sweet as ever. If you think these two were like lovesick puppies in the rest of the series wait til you see them in the run up to the wedding. They really are that dream couple.

Charlie bear is so sweet and I only wish we could see more of her. Her wedding surprise had me in tears it was beautiful.

Damons mum, Olivia, showed up being a bit of a meddler. She clearly wanted to drive a wedge between Damon and Lil and I hated her for it. Poor Lil didn't know what to do for the best. She didn't want to upset Damon but she also didn't want Olivia to push her around. Deep down I think Olivia is old woman missing her only son.

Lil's parents were great. It was odd to see them fitting in to Ashford so easliy as they haven't been in the story at all since they have been away. Lil's Mamma really did make me laugh with her clumsiness.

the girls really were the best friends that Lil could ask for and not only that she was a great friend to them. Letting Cece go when she needed to no matter how much she might have wanted her there.

The wedding was beautiful and the dress, my oh my the dress. I can't even describe how much I loved that dress.

I have a warm fuzzy Christmas feeling inside now. I really can't wait to spend Christmas with my loved ones just like these lot.

Third Time Lucky

Third Time Lucky - Pippa Croft
For fans of Sylvia Day and E. L. James, the third and final part of this exciting romance series.

'It's Sister Dixon from the Royal Infirmary here. I'm sorry to tell you that Captain Hunt has been involved a serious incident.'

Lauren Cusack should be on her way home for an holiday in Washington before her final term at Wyckham College, Oxford. But this call changes everything. Her relationship with impossibly handsome aristocrat Alexander Hunt has been turbulent and Lauren knows she needs to walk away. Yet now as she rushes to his side she knows she will be inevitably sucked back into his world.

And sure enough, Alexander - even a seriously injured Alexander - is an intoxicating cocktail Lauren cannot resist and despite everything that is sent to thwart them - and with Alexander there is drama at every turn - she finds herself happier than she's ever been.

But as her final term races by, and she is offered the perfect job back in Washington, the impossibility of their romance hits home.

Can there be a future for Alexander and Lauren?

The love trials of Lauren and Alexander continue in the third book in Pippa Croft's brilliant new Oxford Blue romance series.

Fans of E L James, Tammara Webber and Samantha Young won't be able to get enough of Pippa Croft's Oxford Blue romance series. Lauren and Alexander's journey begins in The First Time We Met, and follows on in the brilliant sequel, The Second Time I Saw You, which are both available as Penguin ebooks.

Firstly thank you to JB for letting me take part in this blog tour. I've previously read the first and second book in this series and I loved them. The wait for this third book has been excruciating.

We pick this book up right after the second one ends. The second book ended on such a cliff-hanger that it almost killed me. I raced through the beginning of this book needing to know what would happen next.

Lauren was as useless as ever at staying away from Alexander and his drama. I feel this book while still written from Lauren's POV was more focused on the changes for Alexander than for Lauren.

Alexander really grew a lot in this book. With the struggles that he faces with his injury life Alexander has to learn to adapt. He has to learn that he can't always get his own way and that sometimes you need a bit of help. Of course being Alexander Hunt he fights this all the way.

I really enjoyed seeing more of Emma. I loved seeing the changes in her and Alexander's relationship. They really do only have each other left and after Alexander's accident Emma grows up quite a lot.

I loved Letty. She is a genuinely nice person and I don't know how Rupert can be related to her, let alone have been in her womb for 9 months.

Valentina, OMG that girl just doesn't give up. She is so manipulative. Every time I thought we'd seen the end of her, back she came to cause more problems.

I raced through the last few chapters of this book because I was worried I wasn't going to get the ending I wanted and even right up until the last page I wasn't sure how this book was going to end.

I have a feeling this is the last book in the series but I would love maybe a little novella on how these two are doing at some point in the future. I don't quite feel like their story is over. ( I will upgrade to 5 stars if I know there is another book hahah)

Romancing My Love

Romancing My Love - Melissa Foster
After months of caring for her terminally ill mother, Rebecca Rivera is left all alone in a world she doesn’t trust—but she’s determined not to let her mother’s death define her. Losing her job, having to pummel some jerk for being too handsy, and living in her car are just temporary setbacks to an otherwise solid plan in finding her footing. Full of pride and used to being in control of her life, she’s certain she can make it on her own. The last thing Rebecca needs is a man to fix her troubles—even if that man is strikingly handsome, wealthy, and charismatic Pierce Braden.

Pierce is a powerful real estate investor on the verge of a major acquisition. As the eldest of six siblings raised by a single mother, he’s spent his life protecting those he loves. He’s used to being in charge and making things right, and although he’d give his life for his family, he treats the women he dates as expendable—until he meets sexy and stubborn Rebecca Rivera, a woman who is as strong as she is vulnerable.

Passion ignites between them, and the two share their most intimate thoughts and desires. It doesn’t take long for Pierce to realize that Rebecca is as determined not to be saved as he is to find a way into her heart. As their love grows, Rebecca must face fears she didn’t even realize she had—and Pierce must learn the hard truth that sometimes less really is more. Is the power of true love enough for Rebecca and Pierce to learn to give up control and allow their hearts to take over?

Thank you so much to JB for letting me take part in this tour.

If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that I adore Melissa's Love in Bloom series. The Bradens were my first love, then came The Remingtons, now we have the Braden Cousins and the Seaside gang and they all have a tiny piece of my heart. Writing this review has to be the hardest review I have ever written. Now this is not because I didn't enjoy the book because I love it. Every single page from start to finish. It was hard because of the emotions it brought forward. While I love all of the Love in Bloom series I think this one will hold a special place in my heart forever.

Rebecca or Becca is a strong, independent woman. She has been to hell and back and some how come out the other side. I lost my Mum when I was quite young and I could identify with all of the things that Becca was feeling. I still find it difficult to talk about and telling people is hard. I understood her issues with pity. Yes I miss my Mum and if I could I would obviously bring her back but I have a great family and we all got through it together. My Step-mum is my rock and without her I don't know if I would have survived, I don't know how Rebecca survived those weeks on her own before she met Pierce. If I was in her situation I don't think I would have made it out of bed. Hell I didn't make it to school for a long time after I lost my mother and I wasn't alone.

Pierce is your typical Braden. Tall, dark and handsome. He's also a bit of a control freak. His dad left when he was 7 and since then he's been trying to control everything so that he never feels that level of pain again. What he didn't realise was that while he was doing this he blocked off his heart. I loved seeing Pierce be put in his place by Rebecca but I also loved how they both grew as their relationship developed.

It was great to catch up with Treat and Max. I really love their relationship and seeing it grow right from Lovers at Heart until now makes my heart swell. It was really great to catch up with Pierce's siblings as well. I really like Emily and I can't wait to learn more about her in Dreaming of Love.

A BITTERSWEET JOURNEY OF LUST, LOVE & CHOICES.

POWER, PASSION OR PRESTIGE. WHICH LOVE IS THE RIGHT LOVE?

Thank you to JB for letting me take part in this blog tour.

Firstly I have to say I love the cover. It's eye-catching and has a summery feel to it.

This story begins at Zara's hen weekend, her and her girls have just woken up from a night of drunkeness and she doesn't remember a thing. Worse still it seems someone is lying next to her, someone of the male variety.

Zara is a sports therapist and her job takes her to some exotic locations which I was pretty jealous of. She is very loyal and always there when her friends need her.

Bruce seemed like a good man who may have lost his way a bit.

I enjoyed going back through Zara's life to see how she ended up marrying Bruce.

I was gunning for it to be Brett the whole time. They seemed so well suited but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

This is a fun read. Perfect for reading at the beach or by the pool (exactly where I read it) I look forward to reading the second book.

Excerpt

A muffled groaning sound came from the far end of the hotel suite. Busy street life outside seeped through into the dimly lit interior. Across the queen sized bed lay two figures forming soft undulating mounds beneath the bed sheets. A shrill siren broke the quietness of the bedroom.

‘Gee, what did I do last night?’ murmured the fragile voice of Zara, the sound causing the body beside her to stir. Leaning back on the feather pillows her brain tried hard to recollect the last twenty four hours. For one awful moment she froze registering that she wasn’t alone. Hesitatingly, she glanced sideways at the slumbering form. Deep and heavy breathing could be heard from beneath the covers. Turning, rather cautiously Zara peeked over the top of the white bed linen.

‘Oh, my god,’ there she was naked and in bed with a complete stranger. No tiny recollection of how they’d met, or what the hell she’d done with him for that matter. What would the girls think of her? It wasn’t worth imagining what Bruce would think if he found out. Zara noticed her strewn clothing on the floor nearby. How to retrieve them was going to be some feat in itself without disturbing her unknown visitor.

The bedtime occupant grunted and turned. Stretching out a limb, he slammed a heavy thigh across Zara’s body. Gritting her teeth and sucking air through them she now laid pinned to the bed. How was she supposed to move now? First disentanglement without waking the stranger and; second allow herself to get suitably clothed before he came round.

Surveying the room, her head throbbed with the effort. A vague recognition flashed through her brain cells of some heavy alcohol consumption the previous night. Zara detected the faint sound of running water from the en-suite.  Her throat was now feeling parched. The joys of a large glass of cold liquid were enticing her to attempt moving pretty quickly.

Looking back over the young male who lay sprawled across her bed, she viewed his athletic body. He lay perfectly still and quiet in the hazy light of the hotel room, chest moving rhythmically, the gentle arch of his back just visible above the covers. He appeared young, mid- twenties maybe. A shadow of morning stubble enhanced his dishevelled appearance. Trying hard to recharge her memory of where they’d met, Zara rubbed her temples gently in the hope this would miraculously help. No, it wasn’t there. What in hell had she drunk last night?

Glancing around the dimly lit room Zara noticed discarded items randomly littering the floor, accompanied by two half-drunk bottles of Champagne. Hawaiian garlands decorated the table lamps either side of the bed.

From the bedside table she picked up a tumbler containing what looked like a cocktail. She sniffed gingerly. The strong smell of mixed spirits confirmed her opinion and a nauseating wave came over her. Once it passed, she noticed there were four tumblers, not just two.

Uneasiness crept over her as the possibility she may have got up close and personal with more than one member of the opposite sex flashed in front of her. No, Gina wouldn’t have allowed her to stoop that low. She had more decorum than that, even if this was possibly her last major weekend of freedom. Gently tried to manoeuvre her body round and slide free from under the comatose individual. The movement started to arouse the stranger once again as the gentle touch of his hand brushed past her shoulder. Turning back to look, she met the glazed eyes of her finally semi-awake neighbour. Bleary eyed, he ran a hand through his dishevelled hair.

‘Urrg, what time is it? That was one great party last night; you girls know how to have a wild time. Thanks for letting me crash. I certainly won’t forget you two in a hurry.’ Zara flushed and gulped.

‘Err!’ Slightly stunned and unable to say much, she felt even more anxious. Blinking hard, she tried to obtain a little distance. By shifting furtively towards the edge of the bed, now that his weight was no longer pinning her down.

The cascading sound of water stopped and shortly after, the en-suite door opened. Swivelling round like an electric bolt had hit her, Zara stared at the emerging figure in the half light, unsure of who to expect. It was Crystal!

‘Hello gorgeous, glad you’re awake.’ Zara looked indignantly at her, trying hard to indicate discreetly her concern without letting the dozy Prince Charming next to her notice what she was doing. Raising her eyebrows and gesturing towards him, she mouthed to Crystal silently.

‘Who is he?’

Crystal giggled coyly as she sat down on the bed, her towel barely covering her vital statistics.

‘This is Christian.’

Zara noticed that Christian suddenly looked rather perkier when he saw Crystal’s body perched rather provocatively at his feet.

‘We had rather a wild night and all of us ended up back here.’

‘All of us! But I was sharing with Gina. You were with Amber and Bella. What happened to them? How many more party goers were there?’

Crystal smiled, ‘Just Christian and Lance. Our group couldn’t take the pace. You, me and Christian carried on till later, hence the pounding headache you’re probably enduring? Lance escorted the others back to their room. Gina must have decided to join them. Not sure what happened to him, but we had a hell of a time back here.’

Zara shot a very worrying look at Crystal. Whispering as quietly as she could she felt the urge to ask the dreaded question?

‘Tell me we didn’t? Tell me I didn’t at least?’ Crystal leant forward her towel revealing more than just a cleavage. Distracting the worse for wear bed fellow from listening too closely, she whispered in Zara’s ear.

‘No honey, you didn’t. Christian had the desire in him and tried his best to seduce you, but the poor sweetie had drunk way too much rum punch. Besides you weren’t having any of it. He didn’t stand a chance.’

Zara fell back against the pillows unsure whether to be relieved or concerned. ‘Oh great, thanks Crystal.’

Christian now had sufficiently woken enough and after viewing the delights of Crystal at such a close up range, he now had experienced a shot of adrenaline to allow him to carry on where apparently they’d left off the night before.

‘Ladies, what do you say, recuperation is always better with the hair of the dog. Fancy joining me for one more bevy?’ He lusted longingly in Crystal’s direction. Christian was now recuperating from the punch a tad too quickly for Zara’s preference.

‘No! You can count me out. Fresh air and a strong shot of New York caffeine is in order now I fear. Don’t let me stop you two,’ replied Zara sharply. Sliding swiftly from beneath the covers she backed out of harm’s way. Grabbing a garment from the floor, she walked as discreetly as she could towards the en-suite door.

‘I’ll just freshen up and be out of your way.’ This parting shot was directed at Christian his face looking a little disappointed at her retreating exit.

The Summer I Fell

The Summer I Fell - Sonya Loveday
“So you wanna be part of the Six, huh? You wish…” ~Jared, Ace, Mark, Josh, Aiden & Eli

Riley Clifton can’t remember a time when she wasn’t a part of the Six, a group of rowdy boys who would do just about anything for her. Growing up alongside of six guys is never easy. Especially in high school. Falling in love with one of the Six? Even harder when Ace has a hold of her heart, and he doesn’t even know it.
Jake (Ace) Aceton has loved Riley for a long time, but has kept the secret oath of the Six. Riley was off limits. At least until after graduation. When he overhears Riley admitting to her best friend, Paige how she feels about him, Ace doesn't let his chance slip by. Riley, in his mind, has always been his.
When her college plan falls through, and her future is left to the hands of fate, Riley finds herself scrambling to keep up with all the changes. But that's not the hardest part. The hardest part is saying good-bye, especially to Ace.

Heartache, hard lessons, and a love deeper than her Alabama roots will threaten to crumble Riley’s world as she waits for Ace’s return.

Will Riley and Ace’s love be strong enough to hold them together when life tries to tear them apart?

Thank you to Sonya for sending me a copy of this book to review.

The first thing I'm going to say is make sure you have at least 2 boxes of tissues nearby and are wearing waterproof mascara when reading this book.

The six have a great friendship. Each member has a different personality but they all compliment each other. Jared is the joker. He's constantly making people laugh but he's also the one winding everyone up. He knows exactly how to irritate you. He would definitely be a great person to have around when your feeling down. Josh and Jared love their music. They both play the guitar. Mark loves his photography and is always trying to capture the best moments so that they never forget them. Eli was the last member to join the six but he made them become the six before that they were just a bunch of guys who always seemed to be together. Aiden is the quiet one but like they say it's the quiet ones you need to watch out for. The one thing they all have in common is they would do anything to protect Riley.

Ace is the strong silent one. He has a temper that you can see flare out of control on occasions. He's also the one that Riley is in love with but she hasn't quite worked out how to tell him yet.

There are a lot of sad moments in this book and I could relate to how they all felt leaving each other behind. It reminded my of the end of Uni. I had such great friends that had been there with me for the last 3 years. We'd had our ups and downs, gone through good times and bad and the thought of them not being a few doors down from me any more was heart breaking. I knew they would always be on the other end of the phone but deep down you know it's just not the same.

There's also a lot of funny moments. There were times when I had tears from the sad parts on my cheeks then I would be laughing so hard at the next sentence.

Paige is Rileys only female friend. She was pretty great to her. She always told Riley the truth even if it wasn't what she wanted to hear. She also gave her a big kick up the backside when she needed it.

Riley and Mary helped each other a lot during the last few chapters. I'm glad they could be there for each other.

I loved every single page of this book and I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the series. That ending KILLED me.

Seaside Summers

Seaside Hearts (Love in Bloom: Seaside Summers, Book 2) Contemporary Romance - Melissa Foster

As always thank you to JB for letting me take part in this blog tour. This is the second book in the Seaside Summer series. The Seaside gang make me howl with laughter and Melissa makes you instantly feel like part of the gang.

Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident—except when she’s around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother’s new cougar lifestyle, Jenna’s giving up on Peter—and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He’s looking forward to seeing his friend Jenna, a welcome distraction who’s so damn sexy and so painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete’s true feelings, and he’s powerless to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete’s not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Can Jenna handle the real Pete Lacroux—the sexiest, most passionate alpha male she’s ever seen—or will she crack under pressure? And can Pete reclaim the life he once had without tearing apart his family?

Jenna is a feisty, hot, confident woman....that is unless she is around Pete Lacroux. She has been in love with this man for as long as she can remember and she spends every summer pining after him. Around everyone else she is strong and confident but as soon as she's with Pete she becomes mute. She's decided this summer is the one where she moves on.

Pete is a strong, loyal, family man. He is protective of those that he loves and he's a pretty mild mannered  quiet guy. In the past he has always thought he needed a confident woman. He's seen what Jenna is like when she think's he's not there and can't understand why she can't function around him. It was very interesting to see the real Pete unleashed. The way he teased Jenna with his promises was very entertaining.

It was really great to meet Pete's family, especially Sky, and I have a sneaking suspicion it will not be the last we see of the Lacroux family.

Most of the Love in Blooms series is about two people meeting for the first time and getting that spark, knowing from the off that they were the one. This book was a little different. It was really great to see their friendship blossom into something more.

I love the Seaside Gang and I can't wait to read the rest of their stories.

The Bookshop on the Corner

The Bookshop on the Corner - Rebecca Raisin

Who said that only real heroes could be found in fiction?

Sarah Smith had an addiction – she was addicted to romance novels. The meet-cute, the passion, the drama and the gorgeous men! Now this wouldn’t have been such an issue if she hadn’t been the owner of the only bookshop in Ashford, Connecticut.

Ever since her close friend Lil, from The Gingerbread Café, had become engaged she had been yearning for a little love to turn up in her life. Except Sarah knew a good man was hard to find – especially in a tiny town like Ashford. That was until New York journalist, Ridge Warner stepped into her bookshop…

Love could be just around the corner for Sarah, but will she be able to truly believe that happy-ever-after can happen in real-life too!

As soon as I finished Chocolate Dreams At the Gingerbread Cafe I couldn't wait to read The Bookshop on the Corner.

This book is all about Sarah Smith. I loved Sarah. She's a quiet, timid girl who loved her books. Sarah loves nothing more than snuggling up in the reading room of her shop with a good read. I think I would LOVE Sarah's shop. With the books stacked haphazardly all over the place a cozy fireplace oh and did I mention the books....

With Lily and Damon being so sickly sweet in love Sarah is feeling a bit down. She wants a man like the ones in her books. The men in her books never let her down. Then along comes Ridge. He looks exactly like a carbon copy of her book boyfriends. the big problem....he is some big city New York journalist. Sarah thinks big city boys can't be trusted. He wants to write a story on the shops in Ashford. He visited for the Chocolate Festival and he fell in love...

I really loved Missy and would absolutely love for Rebecca to write a book about her. She's an excellent friend to Sarah. She really helped her to see that she needs to put her self out there a little. Hiding away in the bookshop she might not have her heart broken but she also won't experience real love.

I loved the story about the old couple who donated the books for the reading room. It was so sweet I had to swallow the tears.

I really enjoyed this story and would love to keep hearing about Sarah and her books as well as the rest of the Ashford gang.

Chocolate Dreams at the Gingerbread Cafe

Chocolate Dreams at the Gingerbread Cafe - Rebecca Raisin

Chocolate…the most irresistible temptation?

The Gingerbread Café is all a buzz! This Easter, Lily and the rest of the town of Ashford, Connecticut are planning a truly decadent Chocolate Festival. Cooking up a storm, CeeCee and Lily are not just baking a batch of their sinfully delicious chocolate-dipped gingerbread men, but an excess of chocolate truffles, squidgy, cinnamony hot cross buns and melt in your mouth chocolate eggs. The Gingerbread Café staff have definitely enjoyed the tasting process!

Add in Damon’s cute-as-a-button seven year old daughter, Charlie, up for a visit and Lily’s perfect Easter may just be around the corner. Until her ex-husband Joel turns up demanding twenty thousand dollars… Suddenly the future of the Gingerbread Café is not so clear…and Lily finds herself eating far more of The Gingerbread Café’s treats than her skinny jeans allow…

Can Lily concoct a brilliant plan to save her beloved café, convince Damon she has no feelings for Joel and still throw a Chocolate Festival the town will be talking about for years? There’s only one way to find out...

I read the first book in this series, Christmas at the Gingerbread Cafe as part of a blog tour last December and I really enjoyed it so when I was looking for books to read while I was on holiday this was definitely on the list.

The book is set in the run up to Easter in the little town of Ashford. Lily and Damon are sickly sweet in love and with the help of CeeCee and the other girls Lily is planning a chocolate festival. The Chocolate Festival was Sarah's idea. She works in the Bookshop. So all the shop owners in Ashford band together and plan this amazing festival. My mouth was watering at the sound of all that chocolate. I could almost taste it.

Things are going well for Lily finally. She has Damon, his little daughter Charlie who adores him and the Gingerbread Cafe is finally starting to make some money that she can re-invest to spruce the place up a bit but then along comes her ex Joel. Man he is a nasty piece of work. After everything he put her through the audacity of the man to even ask for a cent let a lone $20,000!

I really enjoyed this quick fun read. Rebecca's books have a way of drawing you in and making part of the gang. I also read The Bookshop on the corner while I was away which is all about Sarah, all i'll say for now is it's excellent. I can't wait to read the next installment of the Gingerbread Cafe.
